So this morning I awoke to the smell of cooking sage sausage in the kitchen! YEA! Tim is wonderful. Found my way upstairs to "how would you like your eggs honey?". "Any way you cook them is fine with me darling!...or over easy if you are in the mood!". Had breakfast watching my Sunday morning and having a fresh cup 0 Joe with Drew. Got inspired to cook Georgia Jackson Casserole to take the the Gray's. Nancy has a fractured left ankle and is the number one cook there, so thought I'd be a good friend and take them my favorite casserole. Made one for them, a mini cutie patuttie one for Mom and one for dinner tonight for us (me and the 2 boys).
Called Mom to see if she wanted to ride over to Bethesda to deliver the dinner to the Gray's. She is always game for a ride and time to spend with a daughter. We saw 2 hills worth of kids out sledding. Fun big hills with tons 0 kids flying off their sleds. This was a perfect "dusting" of 8 inches and the hills were the best for a sled ride. Drove past NIH, which neither of us recognise anymore. It just grows and grows.
We had a lovely visit with Nancy and Billy Gray. My Dr. Gray. I miss him so at work, but he is happy and it is time for him to retire....and take care of his hop along wife!
Some where during the day dinner with the high school chums and their husbands was canceled due to dicey snow conditions after dark. The roads were fine today, but tonight all the wet places will be ice. I think we chose wisely to reschedule. And now we have yummy guacamole the Tim whipped up!
Came home and put our casserole in the oven. A good batch, it never turns out the same for me. Tim had a few suggestions for improvement. But the consensus from the Grays and Mom was YUMO! So I think I'll leave Georgia Jackson's casserole recipe alone.
Watched 60 minutes, Extreme Home improvement, and Desperate House wives and time for bed and work. Need to be in at 0630 as I am H and P girl. So off to bed I go.
Night, sweet dreams one and all, and time for a new week!

Snow Snow and more snow!
So today we were supposed to get a dusting of snow. "no more than an inch or 2". I just estimated our accumulation: 8 inches.......and no stopping in sight. I think they got their bands of snow off! This afternoon I ventured out to "run a few errands" and the roads were awful. But I love love love my Buick Enclave and I had not a moments worry in all the non plowed roads. Managed to get to the grocery, which was packed. You'd think they were giving food away.
Now this particular Safeway is new (atually an old Safeway there, they tore it down and started fresh, a good thing for that smelly old Safeway...except for the garage). It has been redone and has a tight parking lot outside on a good day, but with no snow plowing going on and tons o snow today you'd think that all smart Kensingtonians would be parking underneath in the covered semi-warm parking garage which is a big as the new gigundo Safeway. (which as a side note I did not want because the backside of this monstrosity looks like a 2 story huge brick wall from my quaint little Kensington....but all the little voices of 'not in my town' did not win) Anyway I tooled under the garage, which I do have to confess Tim turned me on to one Saturday the heavens had opened up and I thought Noah would be floating by soon. We zipped in the store, all dry, while bizillions had their umbrellas turned inside out from the torrential winds and rain that day. I had not been using the garage since I was so opposed to it. But I digress, same thing today. Garage all but empty, parking lot, full of crazies trying to park anywhere they please and blocking everything. I parked in the Queen Bee spot next to the handicappers. And all was well.
My car warmed up and most of the snow melted off, I had a great shop, even got 2 items for Mom and went on my merry way.
From there the decision as to go on with my list or go home. It was only 2pm and the snow was supposed to let up. The eternal optimist decided to go to Home Depot. Another favorite place of mine! Again, place packed....with Men! They followed me around like puppies to see if they could help me. Loved that! Got my few items, with lots of help from the bored workers, made my purchases and started home.
Decided to fill my tank, to be safe and ready. Stopped by Mom's with her 2 items. She was out clearing off her car and looked to cute. I wish I could figure out how to get a cell photo in this thing. She had her wool hat on that she made, her wool mittens, that she made and her face was rosy and she was happy. It is a lovely light snow. I pray at 86 I am out clearing off my car and happy. Though who knows where I'll be, or who will care.
I had wanted to visit with Mom, but the roads were doing nothing but get worse, so home I came to Tim and Drew. Drew is I guess my great nephew. He is here for the weekend doing some honey do things for us, earning some spending money and getting away from Karen. He is living with her, his Aunt, as his parents have booted him out of the house in Florida. That is a story unto itself.
But we are warm, Tim has made a yummy rib eye roast and baked potatoes, Drew is working on Broccoli and I am happy.
Life is good.

back to school.....oh work
And none the worse for wear.
Seems like I was never gone. My replacement was SO glad to see me!
Had a few coughs, but nothing too bad.
Watched the Bachelor tonight. Interesting twist...why on earth did he keep Vienna?
oh well.
it was 60 degrees today! funny weather! And we might get snow this weekend!
My Vikings lost. I am so sad for Brett Favre. And now I owe Tim $40.00, easy come, easy go!

Books
Have read the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie society. Great book. Took me a bit to get in to it as it is all letters between folks. But good, and a good distraction from this eternal cough.
Will have been home from work 7 days with this one. a first in 20 years. Not like me to get so sick, but this too shall pass.
Am finally putting away the end of Christmas. I have a lovely little plate here I should see if anyone wants.....not my style at all. A Lena Liu circle of love plate, you can look it up on e-bay, which is where mine might be going.
Need to mail the last Christmas present to Eileen. Did not see her over the holidays.....and probably won't for a while. She lives about and hour north of here and I just don't get to her neck of the woods much. Love the post office!
now to put away that pesky tree of mine! :)

Football, colds and a bad book
I've read a book I found in the office at work, then discovered it belongs to the PA at work who reads like Bethany. I don't know how she does it, she has 3 girls under 6. I'll be so glad to give it back to her....
Do not waist your time on The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison. An Oprah book, so I was hoping it would be good. Depressing story of little black girls in the south in the 1930's not going to school, getting raped by their fathers and having NO money. Want to forget that one. Now on to The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society book by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. Everyone says that is a good one.
Tim is repairing my cedar chest, the top had gotten all funky from too many milk glasses, housekeepers that kept putting Windex on the finish and Nicholas (the dog) had chewed on a corner as a puppy over 14 years ago, so it needed some finish work. Tim has a pot roast in the oven to enjoy between the 1pm and the 4pm football playoff games today! oh joy for pot roast....and football.
Still coughing like I'm trying to rid my body of my lungs. Motrin 800 is my best friend. It is hard to be so quiet. Guess I'll have to start making lists to talk to Tim about! :)
Time for a kickoff! Saints and Cardinals.....hope the Saints win. They have had a hard time with Katrina and all. Me knowing and talking football. Scarry!

Another Cold
I feel like I've just had a cold, but looking back over my blog it was way back in October after a trip out west. Wednesday I came down with laryngitis after caring for my sick husband for a week. I think it was his tonsils, which are kissing in the back of his throat and need to come out, but that is another story.
So, Wed I came home at noon and slept the day away, today I woke up with zero voice, save how Todd sounded as a toddler. No work today and tomorrow I decided was best spent in bed recovering from my ribs feeling like they've been in a vice grip from all the coughing I'm doing.
It is now 20 past midnight as I've slept the day away I am wide awake, but now that I've read all I can about my long lost family in the west. I'll take a steamy shower, get all relaxed and top it off with some Tylenol with codeine to quiet my cough and let me sleep peacefully and not toss and turn all night. But oh the wicked dreams it makes me have.

Life, Blogging and comments
So, I have become one of those people who do not blog, but read others blogs and get sad when there is not a new blog daily from everyone. So, I better get my act together and blog more often. Here is the latest in my life.
Life is fine here in Silver Spring. No prying little fingers in the kitchen to distract me from my blog! Last night I made a batch of chicken soup for my husband who has a cold. He says it is healing him.
Tonight is the retirement party for my Dr. Gray. I've worked with him for 20 years, and will miss him tons. I am jealous for him and his retirement. Only 20 more years for me! Oh joy! I am truly blessed to have been able to work with such a man of great stature.
My "lights only" tree is still up, with one ornament only-all 4 of us have a little bird ornament this year. Actually pretty funny about the 4 of us. Between us we have all options covered. Mom: tree, ornaments, no lights, Holly lights, ornaments, no tree, Me: tree, lights (one ornament after Christmas!) and the best one this year, Kate: Tree, ornaments and lights! Silly I know, but fun!
We have not seen temps above 32 in 3 weeks. It is wicked cold here, and with the wind, the wind chill gets us to single digits. Tonight we are expecting more snow 1-3 inches. Oh joy. I am on call this weekend and really do not want to deal with snow on call.
Tim is in class again. Only 14 more classes for him to get he BS in IT. Five more and he will have an AA. Yea!
Mom and I will be back in class on Tuesday for our stained glass lamp shade....watch out Tiffany lamps!
Not much else.
